Do’H
Have the writers of The Simpsons predicted the future many times over? If so, how on earth can they get it right so many times? The good thing about creating a cartoon is that you can draw and say anything you want, no matter how crazy the idea.
But what makes this cartoon family so special and how much did they correctly predict? At this point I must point out to a few of you that the Simpsons family are indeed cartoons and not real! This will be a bit of a shock………………to some of you….Sorry!
Right, back to the sane subject of testing the predictions of a family made of crayons. Lots of people have covered this subject and there’s many Youtube videos out with lists of predictions. Some have 15, others 30 or more, but how accurate are they really?
Well, lets start with the big one. Yes, we start at the top. The big banana, the one we are supposed to build up to and everyone waits for. Look, this is a blog not a game show or the Top 40 and I want your attention from the off. I’m not going to start small and build you up to the one that makes the headlines. So here it is.
The Simpsons predict Donald Trump to become President of the United States!!
Back in the year 2000 in an episode called “Bart to the Future”, Bart goes forward in time and this is where the writers have a bit of fun making Donald Trump the President. Now you could argue that this is purely coincidental and if the writers were going to pick the most ridiculous character to ever be President, well it could only be Trump. He was at the time the butt of every comics joke and the subject of many comedy sketch shows. So it’s not absurd that Donald Trump would also be the content for The Simpsons as it is pure satire comedy targeting the most common issues like a Presidential campaign. But the prediction of Trump being President isn’t the coincidence here. It’s the accuracy of the detail that absolutely blows the mind. Remember this is 15 years before it happened and there’s more than one similarity going on here.
Firstly we are presented with the fact that Donald Trump became President at all, that can be a lucky coincidence by the writers. Then we have Donald Trump on the escalator. This is getting spookyish but it was in Trump Tower, Donald Trumps skyscraper so not crazy just yet. Also when he addresses the crowd the details seem to be identical. Well this is not an unusual set up with the flags, podium etc.
The next image is quite a bit scary. Now things are getting strange.

So this is Mr Burns on the left and on the right, the actual Electoral map showing Trumps Presidential win. You have to agree that the real map on the right is eerily very, very similar to how The Simpsons imagined it fifteen years earlier!!
Ok, you may argue that these are the states he would have had to win to become President so the writers may of imagined what a win would look like visually on a map. Although now we have four coincidences. Trump becomes President, Trump on the escalator, Trump behind the podium and the crazy same map.
Here’s a little extra bit to this episode which I think helps the case of it being more than just coincidence. Below is a series of photos, the real ones and the Simpsons ones.
Now what these photos above show are a sign dropping in front of the glass where the crowd is. The yellow sign and the sign saying “PAID” that Homer was holding, both get dropped and both fall in the same position. That is the kind of detail you wouldn’t expect from a coincidence. The sign also changes from “PAID” to “VOTE”. So a bought vote then?? One of the above images or facts isn’t enough to call it a conspiracy, but put them all together and it raises some deep questions. So if you were to have another crazy coincidence regarding The Simpsons and Trump, that would pretty much prove something is going on.
Ok, here you are then…………..
Hahahaha, Come On, Really???
So then, does this prove that the writers have a time traveller on their team? Sadly not! It turns out that we’ve been misled a little with the truth. Let’s run through the dates and facts. In “Bart To The Future” we don’t see Donald Trump at all. He is only mentioned once when Lisa is the President and she says “As you know we’ve inherited quite a budget crunch from President Trump”. This episode was aired in 2000, the same year that Donald Trump campaigned for the nomination of the Reform Party in a bid to run for President. Also in 1988 Trump considered running as a Republican but pulled out early on. The writers considered Trump as President to be the worst thing that could happen to America, hence the one line dig that he would bankrupt the country.
In a Simpsons special “Trumptastic Voyage” from July 2015 we see that famous escalator scene in Trump Tower. The real life version of this event happened a month earlier on the 16th of June 2015, including the speech behind the podium.
The map that Mr Burns is stood in front of is from a 2012 episode where Mr Burns is endorsing Mitt Romney as the new President. It appears the Simpsons creators were supporting Mitt Romney over Barack Obama and it had nothing to do with Donald Trump.
The image of Trump holding a glowing globe was during a visit to Saudi Arabia in May 2017. It was during the inauguration of the Global Centre for Combating Extremist Ideology in Riyadh and he was joined by Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz in the centre and President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi of Egypt on the left. The Simpsons would show this as a picture hanging on the wall entering Vice President Pence’s office the following week.
So we’ve shattered the myth that “The Simpsons” predict the future. Or that maybe somehow through some form of message the shows creators are given upcoming event details maybe as a way of conditioning the people as not to come as a surprise or shock when said event happens for real!!
WAIT A MINUTE, that last bit sounds like I DO believe there’s something strange going on! But where’s the evidence to suggest these predictions have come to fruition? That the show has foreseen the future?? Below is a 2008 episode showing a faulty voting machine. Each time Homer votes for Obama, McCain is registered instead. On the right is what actually happened in 2012 when voters choosing Obama found that the machine was ticking Mitt Romney instead. Mitt Romney……..the very person The Simpsons were endorsing!!!

Is this a prediction, a premonition, proof? Was this just coincidence? Maybe, but it would have to be a one off to be a coincidence surely??
I know what you’re thinking, “Show us some more stuff!” OK, take a look at this lot;

In 1990 the residents of Springfield protested to have a copy of Michelangelo’s statue David covered due to it’s nude indecency. Russian campaigners in St Petersburg campaigned for the very same thing in 2016.

1990 and Bart catches a 3 eyed fish in a pond by the nuclear power station. In 2011, a fish is caught close to a nuclear facility in Argentina……..WITH 3 EYES!!

Homer invents the “Baby Translator” in 1992. Twenty years later it becomes reality as an app for your smartphone.
1993 now and The Simpsons showcase the dangers of working with a tiger. Because if you hadn’t already worked out for yourself that a frigging tiger might, just might decide to kill you purely because it’s a massive cat with massive fangs and massive claws and would rather be chasing gazelles than have two pretentious magicians parade it around Vegas!!! Just in case you didn’t realise that, The Simpsons decided to highlight the dangers. Strangely, this came true for Siegfried and Roy in 2003.

The Simpsons joking about horse meat being in our food back in 1994. But 19 years later in 2013 we found out that it is true. The “Horse Meat Scandal” found that even in school meals there were high levels of horse meat.

1995 Simpsons Smart Watch.

Lemon tree theft in Springfield in 1995 and in 2013 it actually happened!

Facetiming in the 1995 episode “Lisa’s Wedding” which is set in the future.

The City of New York vs Homer Simpson. 21st SEPTEMBER 1997. Well we all know what happened four years later.

In 1998 whilst working on an equation, Homer seems to have identified the mass of the Higgs Boson particle. This would be discovered for real in 2012 at the Large Hadron Collider. I have covered the Large Hadron Collider and Peter Higgs in previous blogs if you want more information on them.

In 2013 Edward Snowden leaked the truth that Intelligence Agencies in the U.S. are monitoring everyone’s activities and conversations through their smart phones and web cameras. 6 years earlier in 2007 The Simpsons suggested the “Big Brother” operation in the Simpsons Movie!
This is what the BBC reported on the 9th of February 2015:
“Samsung is warning customers about discussing personal information in front of their smart television set.
The warning applies to TV viewers who control their Samsung Smart TV using its voice activation feature.
When the feature is active, such TV sets “listen” to what is said and may share what they hear with Samsung or third parties, it said.
Privacy campaigners said the technology smacked of the telescreens, in George Orwell’s 1984, which spied on citizens.”

A funny coloured whinging teenage brat in 2019. And on the right, Lisa Simpson speaking her own words 12 years earlier.
There are many more times The Simpsons have had these visions. Is it life imitating art? Or art imitating life? Are all these just coincidence? Or are they even the same? Maybe we see what we want to see and really they all have nothing to do with each other.
I don’t want to theorise on how there are so many similarities and I have no way of proving whether the creators and writers of The Simpsons have any way of seeing the future. The one that really stands out to me is the 9/11 image. It’s done in such an obvious way I find it hard to believe it was just by accident. That then obviously makes me question the rest??
But when it comes to questioning things, I have one thing to ask regarding these last few images……………………………WHHHHYYYYYY???
